This job involves counseling inmates in a Pennsylvania prison to help them set educational and career goals, prepare resumes, practice interviews, and get ready for life after release through one-on-one and group sessions.
It suits someone passionate about education and rehabilitation who enjoys guiding adults toward positive change in a structured, team-oriented environment.
Ideal candidates have experience in counseling or social work and a commitment to working directly with people in correctional settings.

As an Education Guidance Counselor, Corrections Education, you will provide individual and group educational counseling to incarcerated adults.
You will interview and guide inmates to determine their career objectives, post educational goals, and higher educational goals.
You will inform inmates about available educational programming and assist with resume writing, mock interviews, and job search efforts.
This role requires the ability to establish effective working relationships with educational staff to ensure sound educational plans, as well as a genuine desire to guide and encourage inmates to participate in programs that prepare them for reentry into the community.
In addition, you will serve as an alternate GED examiner, verify all mandated educational requirements are complete, and review inmate progress, performance, and attendance.
