Job Description

Summary

This role involves supporting special education students in a school on a U.S. military base in Guam, helping with daily activities like personal care, monitoring behavior, and assisting in classrooms.

About the Position: Department of Defense Education Activity, Department of Defense Education Activity-Pacific-West District, Andersen Elementary School, Andersen Air Base, Guam.

Federal employees at Andersen Elementary School are currently entitled to receive a 11.88% Cost of Living Allowance (COLA) in addition to the base salary. Who May Apply: U.S.

Citizens In order to qualify, you must meet the education and/or experience requirements described below.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social).

You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application.?

General Experience: One year of general experience.

General experience is progressively responsible clerical, office, or other work that indicates ability to acquire the particular knowledge and skills needed to perform the duties of an Educational Aid (Prekindergarten) such as preparing letters, schedules and other documents through the use of a personal computer or assisting with the preparation of instructional materials, OR Education: Two years of education above the high school level obtained in an accredited business, secretarial or technical school, junior college, college or university.

OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%.

To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide your semester hours of by 60. Add the two percentages.

You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: Communications and Media Special Education Support Standards Teaching Others Major Duties:

  • Monitoring students during various phases of school day.
  • Provides assistance in toileting, feeding, eating and personal hygiene.
  • Supports educational efforts in the Special Education classroom and general education classroom as needed.
  • Performs administrative tasks such as attendance records, filing, scheduling, and reviewing assignments.
  • Works with students in accordance with plans developed by the specialist and educator.
  • Participates in Parent Teacher conferences.
