Job Description

Summary

This job is for an educational aide who supports teachers in a kindergarten or general classroom setting, mainly by helping with student supervision, preparing learning materials, and providing one-on-one tutoring.

It involves hands-on tasks like monitoring kids during the school day, grading simple tests, and joining field trips to ensure safety and engagement.

A good fit would be someone patient and organized with experience in office work or education, ideally living nearby a Department of Defense school in the Pacific South Region.

Key Requirements

  • One year of general experience in clerical, office, or administrative work demonstrating ability to learn educational support skills
  • Two years of post-high school education from an accredited institution, or a combination of education and experience equating to 100% of the requirement

About the Position: Positions are located within the Pacific South Region. These positions are not covered by a bargaining unit.

All candidates must reside within the local commuting area where the position is located.

Local commuting area is defined as the geographic area surrounding a work site that encompasses the localities where people live and reasonably can be expected to travel back and forth daily to work based on the generally held expectations of the local community.

General Experience: One year of general experience.

General experience is progressively responsible clerical, office, or other work that indicates ability to acquire the particular knowledge and skills needed to perform the duties of an Educational Aide / Educational Aide (Kindergarten), such as preparing letters, schedules and other documents through the use of a personal computer, or assisting with the preparation of instructional materials.

OR Education: Two years of education above the high school level obtained in an accredited business, secretarial or technical school, junior college, college or university.

OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%.

To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide your semester hours of by 60. Add the two percentages.

You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: Communications and Media Standards Teaching Others Major Duties:

  • Distributing/collecting testing materials as needed by students
  • Grading/providing testing results using identified scoring techniques
  • Monitoring students during various phases of school day
  • Preparing instructional materials related to classroom lessons
  • Providing tutoring to students in all subject areas
  • Accompanying/supervising students on field trips
