Job Description

Summary

This job is for an educational aide in Department of Defense schools in Europe, where you'll help teachers by preparing classroom materials, tutoring students, supervising them during school activities and field trips, and assisting with testing.

About the Position: These positions are located within the Europe East Region. Hours may vary. All candidates must reside within the local commuting area where the position is located.

Local commuting area is defined as the geographic area surrounding a work site that encompasses the localities where people live and reasonably can be expected to travel back and forth daily to work based on the generally held expectations of the local community.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social).

You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application.

General Experience: One year of general experience.

General experience is progressively responsible clerical, office, or other work that indicates ability to acquire the particular knowledge and skills needed to perform the duties of an Educational Aide / Educational Aide (Kindergarten) / Educational Aide (Sure Start), such as preparing letters, schedules and other documents through the use of a personal computer or assisting with the preparation of instructional materials.

OR Education: Two years of education above the high school level obtained in an accredited business, secretarial or technical school, junior college, college or university.

OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%.

To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide your semester hours of by 60. Add the two percentages.

You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: Communications and Media Standards Teaching Others Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks may not be promoted more than 2 grades within the preceding 52 weeks.

Major Duties:

  • Prepare instructional materials related to classroom lessons
  • Accompany/supervise students on field trips
  • Grade/provide testing results using identified scoring techniques
  • Provide tutoring to students in all subject areas
  • Distribute/collect testing materials as needed by students
  • Monitor students during various phases of school day
