The purpose of this Education Technician position is to provide program support for Education Service and to coordinate the Prevention and Management of Disruptive Behavior (PMDB) and New Employee Orientation (NEO) programs.
The position serves as the point of contact for the overall program management of PMDB and NEO for the Medical Center and Community Based Outpatient Clinics (CBOCs).
The position is located in Education Service at the Mann-Grandstaff VA Medical Center in Spokane, Washington.
To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements within 30 days of the closing date of this announcement, 03/31/2026.
Time-In-Grade Requirement: Applicants who are current Federal employees and have held a GS grade any time in the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements within 30 days of the closing date of this announcement.
For a GS-6 position you must have served 52 weeks at the GS-5. The grade may have been in any occupation, but must have been held in the Federal service.
An SF-50 that shows your time-in-grade eligibility must be submitted with your application materials.
If the most recent SF-50 has an effective date within the past year, it may not clearly demonstrate you possess one-year time-in-grade, as required by the announcement.
In this instance, you must provide an additional SF-50 that clearly demonstrates one-year time-in-grade.

You may qualify based on your experience and/or education as described below: Specialized Experience: You must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade GS-5 in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization.
Examples of specialized experience would typically include, but are not limited to: Assist in the planning, coordination, and delivery of employee training or educational programs; Project coordination and workload management to prioritize tasks, meets deadlines, and support multiple program activities; Provide logistical and administrative support using Microsoft Office programs, web-based tools, and other data-collection software; Communicating complex information to individuals from a variety of professional backgrounds both orally and in writing; Applying analytical and evaluative techniques to the identification, consideration, resolution of issues.

Major Duties:
Duties of the position include, but are not limited to the following: Develops and exchanges information, resolves operating problems and makes recommendations Practice proactive, assertive communication during all interactions Advises the facility workplace violence prevention program coordinator under the guidelines of the national workplace violence prevention program Facilitates PMDB program development within the facility, employee training, and develops the annual PMDB training plan Advises the workplace violence prevention program coordinator on practical and technical aspects of a facility training plan, to include setting goals for education of current and future employees, reporting milestones of achievement, and monitoring for opportunities to improve/reach goals Participates in the disruptive behavior committee and the workplace behavioral risk assessment committee Plans, develops, implements, directs, and coordinates overall PMDB training at the facility level with fidelity to the national model clearly communicates staff performance to the supervisor of record Performs the administrative and personnel management functions related to staff assigned to PMDB within each individual workplace in the facilities Tracks training assignments and completions for the facility Coordinates assignment of trainers to level II, III, and IV classes Collects data regarding numbers of staff trained within the facility, analyzing data to look for opportunities to reach facility training goals Makes recommendations for improvement opportunities as they are discovered from participant feedback from evaluations Certifies future PMDB facility trainers Communicates regularly with PMDB facility trainers to provide updated information and to address concerns and issues Collaborates with workplace violence prevention program manager to ensure policies are current and compliant with the joint commission (JTC) and OSHA requirements Participates in the disruptive behavior committee and the workplace behavioral risk assessment team Participates in the analysis of disruptive and violent incidents, to identify why the incidents occurred and how to prevent them in the future Participates in national PMDB conference calls and trainings pertinent to the coordination of the program Uses Microsoft software (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Publisher, etc.) effectively to complete and manage correspondence, tracking, reporting, and education initiatives Direct, manage, and communicate clearly with all facility subject experts/presenters Communicate, both verbally and via email on topics related to the work of the position Manage an online repository of PowerPoints and handouts for all facility subject experts/presenters research and/or analyze problems, issues, or program requirements related to NEO Communicate last minute and planned changes to the schedule clearly to all parties affected by changes Monitors for continuous improvement opportunities manage details for the quarterly resource fair Send calendar invites to new employees and supervisors Contact support staff to ensure table set up/removal ensures appropriate supplies, props, and equipment are available Compile course review surveys Provides logistical support for the training program by researching, coordinating, and procuring available instructors, and classrooms Completes purchase orders for education department supplies create competency folders for delivery to new employees' supervisors Support/co-lead competency folder training for facility support staff serve on committees as assigned Establish and maintain effective relationships with professional medical center staff, administration, and support services Participate in interdepartmental activities Travel off-site to provide training to employees at the CBOCs and/or government leased space Work Schedule: Monday - Friday, 7:30am to 4:00pm Telework: Ad-hoc.
