Full Job Description

DSHS OHBH Transport Registered Nurse 2

At Olympic Heritage Behavioral Health (OHBH), we’re seeking a passionate and skilled Transport Registered Nurse (RN2) to join our dedicated team in providing exceptional psychiatric and medical care.

Olympic Heritage Behavioral Health treats civilly committed patients and other populations served by DSHS.

Civil patients have been committed to treatment by the court system and referred to state psychiatric care for treatment and rehabilitation.

State treatment facilities prepare civil patients for eventual discharge back into our communities.

This is an opportunity to lead, advocate, and change lives in an environment where your skills and compassion directly impact those in need.

In this role, the RN2 serves as a key clinical partner within the Transportation Department, coordinating patient referrals, scheduling medical appointments, and ensuring accurate, timely clinical documentation.

The position provides both direct nursing support and on-site or off-site patient accompaniment as needed, working closely with ward staff, treatment teams, medical escorts, and external providers.

Through this collaboration, the RN2 helps maintain safe, efficient, and well-organized patient care while adhering to established policies, procedures, and professional scope of practice.

Opportunities performed on-site at this work location at least three days a week may be eligible for an additional 5% premium pay in addition to the advertised salary.

The anticipated shift is 8:00 AM - 4:30 PM, Monday - Friday.

Some of what you'll do:
  • Coordinate on-campus and off-campus medical appointments to ensure patients are scheduled and transported safely, respectfully, and on time.
  • Accompany patients who require RN-level clinical oversight during transport and medical visits.
  • Gather and submit necessary patient information and documentation to clinics prior to scheduled appointments.
  • Act as a clinical liaison between ward staff, treatment teams, providers, specialists, and community partners to support patient medical needs.
  • Process medical referrals, schedule appointments, and document all related information in the electronic health record.
  • Enter all scheduled appointments into the Transport Tracker in alignment with department workflow.
  • Ensure all required documentation is accurate, complete, and available to support continuity of care.
  • Communicate upcoming appointments to ward staff by sharing updates in person, emails, or via Microsoft Teams.
  • Maintain ongoing communication with wards regarding appointment status, preparation requirements, and visit outcomes.
  • Collaborate with the RN3 Transportation Supervisor and transport staff to support efficient daily operations.
  • Act as the transport supervisor in the absence of the RN3 Transport Supervisor.
