DSHS ESH Registered Nurse 3 - Patient Safety Program Coordinator


Located in Medical Lake, WA at Eastern State Hospital (ESH) Institution, the Patient Safety Program Coordinator RN 3 provides clinical chart and incident review; monitors and assigns incident reports to classify patient safety events; reviews medication error reports and other documentation pertaining to the safe and effective delivery of patient care for optimal patient care outcomes.


Opportunities performed on-site at this work location at least three days a week may be eligible for an additional 5% premium pay in addition to the advertised salary.

As a Patient Safety Program Coordinator at ESH, you are encouraged to impact patient care within the multidisciplinary team and take advantage of learning best practices from our teambuilding initiatives training.


Some of what you'll do:

  • Assist designing the patient safety program and engage all departments, programs, and services in participation, meeting Joint Commission and CMS standards.
  • Evaluate Culture of Safety using valid and reliable tools and surveys.
  • Review all UORs, provide final coding and classify patient safety events.
  • Organize, coordinate, and facilitate in-depth reviews/conducts intensive investigations and other types of audits of actual or potential adverse patient safety events, up to and including facilitating root cause analyses of sentinel events, or as assigned by the Chief Quality Officer; tracks action plan completions to meet deadlines.
  • Develop and assist facilitating system improvements to process failures or identified pro-active risk assessments.
  • Review adverse patient events such as medication errors, patient falls, and include near misses to assess the safety and quality of clinical care delivered and identify recommendations for improvements.
  • Assign and evaluate work of supervised staff; Perform evaluations.
  • Conduct annual evaluation of the fall prevention program and patient assault data, reporting findings to appropriate Committees.

Who should apply?
