This job involves traveling across Pennsylvania to inspect drug and alcohol treatment facilities, checking if they follow rules to provide quality care for people with addiction.
You'll review records, talk to staff, handle complaints, and help programs improve by offering advice on regulations.
It's a great fit for someone detail-focused who likes fieldwork, problem-solving, and making a real difference in community health without any remote work options.

As a Drug and Alcohol Licensing Specialist, you will travel the Commonwealth inspecting substance use treatment facilities to ensure quality care is being provided to Pennsylvanians struggling with addiction.
These facilities range from hospital-based detoxification programs to free-standing outpatient programs.
A Drug and Alcohol Licensing Specialist is responsible for determining regulatory compliance and providing technical assistance to any of the 800+ treatment facilities across the Commonwealth.
A Drug and Alcohol Licensing Specialist physically inspects facilities, conducts clinical and medical chart audits, and evaluates staffing qualifications to determine compliance with licensing regulations.
The Licensing Specialist then prepares deficiency reports that substantiate areas of non-compliance with regulations identified during inspections and complaint/incident investigations.
This position also takes complaint calls and provides technical assistance to various stakeholders, including consumers, families, program administrators and other professionals on issues regarding the interpretation of regulations, provision of services and implementation of new program activities.
Field work may require individuals to work irregular hours for early morning or evening inspections. Overnight travel is required as part of this position.
