This job involves supporting veterans living in a residential care facility by handling daily operations, ensuring their safety and security, and providing basic care during the day shift as part of a treatment team.
It requires assisting with administrative tasks, responding to medical emergencies, and using computer tools to manage resident information.

This position provides direct resident care and support to Veteran residents of the Domiciliary including responsibilities for their safety, security and accountability.
Administers and directs the daily operation of the Domiciliary residents.
Incumbent performs the job responsibilities for the DAY SHIFT tour of duty and is an integral member of Domiciliary Residential Rehabilitation Treatment Team.
To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement, 03/11/2026.
Time-In-Grade Requirement: Applicants who are current Federal employees and have held a GS grade any time in the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements by the closing date of this announcement.
For a GS-06 position you must have served 52 weeks at the GS-05. The grade may have been in any occupation, but must have been held in the Federal service.
An SF-50 that shows your time-in-grade eligibility must be submitted with your application materials.
If the most recent SF-50 has an effective date within the past year, it may not clearly demonstrate you possess one-year time-in-grade, as required by the announcement.
In this instance, you must provide an additional SF-50 that clearly demonstrates one-year time-in-grade.

You may qualify based on your experience as described below: Specialized Experience: You must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade GS-5 in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization.
Examples of specialized experience would typically include, but are not limited to: served as program assistant, secretary, administrative assistant responsible for providing administrative services to mid-level managers.
Research, interpret and apply complex set of laws, rules, regulations and policies and explain policies to residents in basic terms; recognize and evaluate various medical situations, react appropriately and perform emergency medical treatment as needed and the ability to prioritize cases and prepare an emergency contingency plan; serves as Technical knowledge of computer software applications including CPRS/VISTA, Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint, etc.

Physical Requirements: Work involves a considerable amount of walking, during rounds, both inside and outside the Domiciliary and walking up and down stairs.
Occasionally may be exposed to inclement and intemperate weather.
Lifts, pulls, moves moderate to heavy equipment, bags, boxes and furniture and may be called on at any time to assist in loading or lifting stretchers for residents requiring such transfer to the hospital.

Major Duties:
Incumbent is a member of the Domiciliary Residential Rehabilitation Treatment Team, providing a constant physical presence, active counseling and situational awareness for assisting residents of the domiciliary.
Major duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to: Serves as a liaison for up to 60 assigned Veteran residents.
Maintains control records consistent with case liaison functions for Veteran Residents and participates in treatment planning.
Facilitates participation for residents in recreation, work therapy and other therapeutic activities.
Initiates, organizes and participates in various activities pertaining to the resident treatment and administrative functioning of Treatment Team(s).
Responsible for resident/team scheduling and insuring appropriate follow-up on Treatment Plans.
Responsible for preparing documents and coordinating problems to insure resolution is appropriate and handled in a timely manner.
Responsible for safely transporting residents to nurse's station(s), urgent care, or emergency department for assistance, as needed.
Provides Basic Life Support, First Aid, behavioral and crisis intervention to Veterans in distress as emergency responders.
Responsible for documenting activities and occurrences in treatment record or communication sheets for each Veteran in a timely manner. Works with professional and administrative personnel,.
i.e., physicians, psychologists, social workers, nurses, MAAs, safety manager, police, etc., for consultations with staff on other multidisciplinary treatment teams and other facility personnel to monitor progress of residents.
Responsible for orienting Veteran residents, interpreting policy and providing counseling to them, documenting appropriately, on matters relating to roles, rights and responsibilities.
Performs various Domiciliary Care Programs with administrative tasks such as timekeeping, organization of documents, recruitment, orientation, training, supervision, evaluation and record keeping of residents working Incentive Therapy positions in Domiciliary Living Units.
Provides training and guidance to new or other junior level employees. Work Schedule: Monday-Friday 1530-Midnight (alternating) Virtual: This is not a virtual position.
