61st JUDICIAL DISTRICT COURT
Created by state law in 1968, the 61stDistrict Court has a high-volume caseload.
The court has jurisdiction within the City of Grand Rapids, the second largest city in the state and the largest in Kent County.
The 61stDistrict Court is comprised of six (6) elected judges, one (1) appointed attorney magistrate, and a dedicated support staff in the Clerk’s Office and Probation Department..
The 61stDistrict Court Team is committed to providing excellent customer service to the public, and to ensuring the effective and impartial management of cases.
Temporary: This is a full-time grant-funded position for one (1) year, subject to the availability of funds. The position is eligible for benefits.
POSITION OVERVIEWThe Domestic Violence Case Manager (DVCM) will play a crucial role in the newly established Domestic Violence Court, working to support defendants charged with qualifying offenses. This grant-funded position requires a dedicated professional to monitor and supervise participants ordered by the court to participate in the DVCM Program; ensures adherence to the court ordered conditions of program participation, performance expectations, facilitate team meetings, and provide progress updates. The DVCM will collaborate with various stakeholders, including community agencies, partners, judges, attorneys, service providers, and victims, to deliver comprehensive services and assistance.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

- Flexibility to adjust work week hours to provide services.
- Plans, organizes, coordinates, and monitors the activities of the Problem-Solving Court program.
- Serves as a link between each of the members of the Problem-Solving Court Team and participant.
- Schedules and meets with participants to discuss program details.
- Attends pre-hearing staffing and hearings to evaluate and direct Problem-Solving Court operations, case management, and Problem-Solving Court team cohesiveness and understanding of Problem-Solving Court concepts.
- Adheres to program policies and protocols, as well as to 42 C.F.R. Part 2, HIPAA, and other state and local confidentiality laws.
- Attends case staffing and court hearings to report participant compliance/noncompliance and recommend incentives and sanctions
- Collaborates with government and community agencies in order to meet programmatic goals, funding requirements, and provide effective programming and ancillary services.
- Contributes to the efficiency and effectiveness of the Court’s services to its customers by participating as an active member of a team.
- Demonstrates regular and predictable attendance, including attendance at required meetings.

Requirements
EDUCATION Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in criminal justice, behavioral sciences, corrections, psychology, social work, rehabilitation counseling, or guidance counseling.

Bachelor’s degree and at least three (3) years of paid full-time experience working in substance or alcohol abuse or the mental health field.

NECESSARY SPECIAL REQUIRMENTS- Successful completion of Criminal and Employment Background investigation required. Valid vehicle operator’s license.
