The work study intern will work with members of the District 2 staff and Councilmember Rhonda Lewis to present professional, high quality written materials for the public and customized research in response to constituent questions and concerns.

Requirements

Job responsibilities will include the following:

Correspondence: assist with research and composition of customized constituent correspondence as directed by staff.

Assist with development of current databases of constituent groups for correspondence. Assist with reviewing incoming correspondence.

Requirement: Ability to use Microsoft Office and potentially a customized based constituent software system.

  • Contact list: Assist with updates to Councilmember Rhonda Lewis’ key people database/contact list as needed.
  • Phones: Assist with answering incoming calls from constituents requesting assistance or stating positions on issues.
  • Other projects as assigned: Be available to assist with other communications projects and/or community relations projects as needed. There will be special projects to be done with our District Director as well.
  • Qualifications

    Requirements:

    • Excellence in written communication.
    • Professional-grade customer service skills.
    • Ability to learn quickly, ask questions and utilize new information to achieve successful completion of work.
    • Consistent willingness to help with a variety of subjects and tasks upon request.

    Additional Information

    Anticipated time commitment:

    • 10-12 hours per week – within standard business hours.

    • 9 am – 5 pm Monday-Friday. (We are happy to negotiate a mutually agreeable schedule.)

    • Duration: 10 weeks with potential for extension.

    • Needed: Currently enrolled college student interested in politics, public relations and communications who wants to build knowledge of the local civic environment.

    Requirement: work-study eligible.
