The South Carolina Governor's School for Science & Mathematics (GSSM) is seeking a dedicated and student-focused Director of the Center for Academic Success to join their team.
The Director of the Center for Academic Success will serve GSSM's Residential and Virtual Programs, being responsible for developing and implementing various support strategies to assist students academically.
Specific job functions include but are not limited to the following:
- Oversee the Academic Success Center for the Academic and Virtual Programs.
- Manage Center for Academic Success- fiscal and personnel.
- Manage Tutorial Centers.
- Supervise all QUEST operations.
- Monitor and guide students on academic probation or academic improvement plans in the Residential and Virtual Program.
- Coordinates PSAT and SAT prep to include working with college guidance counselors as needed.
- Coordinate AP exam prep to include working with college guidance counselors as needed.
- Manage summer bridge program for Residential.
- Oversee the Academic transition section in the Virtual Summer Camp Programs.
- Travel to partner sites as needed.
- Work with Academic Advisors to provide support as needed and work with Athletic department to provide academic support as needed. Coordinates tutoring as needed. Provides guidance on different learning styles, stress management, test anxiety, etc.
- Teach Academic transitions weekly seminar to all Juniors.
- Prepare reports as needed. Preforms other job-related duties as assigned.
Requirements
Master's degree in education, special education, counseling, or related field and a minimum of five (5) years pertinent experience.
Additional Requirements:- Must be a self-starter.
- Evening and weekend work may be required due to student availability.

Qualifications
- Experience addressing student and parent concern.
- Experience with gifted students.
- Excellent organizational and communication skills, and ability to manage projects.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Publisher.
- Academic Instruction.
- Experience in Management.
