This job is for a leader who oversees the social work team at a state psychiatric hospital, managing services like therapy, treatment planning, and aftercare for adults with serious mental health issues.
It involves supervising staff, ensuring high-quality care, and collaborating with hospital leaders and community partners to support patient recovery.
A good fit would be an experienced social worker with strong leadership skills, knowledge of mental health treatment, and a passion for trauma-informed, person-centered care.

You are required to work at your assigned work location during your scheduled work times.
Supports consistent implementation and compliance with related treatment standards and external agency rules/regulations (e.g.
The Joint Commission (TJC) and Centers for Medicaid and Medicare Services CMS), reports any deficits to leadership, and collaborates in developing operational procedures to ensure patient care.
Developing, implementing, and monitoring patient assessments, treatment planning, group sessions, case management and disposition services, coordination of care with support system engagement, and individual interventions.
Should there be the need for quality improvement, the Director is responsible for identifying those needs and developing a corrective plan of action to present to leadership.
Responsible for employee supervisory responsibilities for the work unit.
This includes provision of clinical and administrative supervision, professional development, employee performance evaluations, employee performance plans, corrective and disciplinary actions, staff scheduling, position descriptions, recruitment, retention, interviewing and hiring, onboarding and training all staff, and ensuring hospital-wide required training has been completed.
Currently, direct supervision includes four (4) unit social work supervisors, each responsible for their own direct reports.
This position also directly supervises the Program Assistant II assigned to Social Work and Therapeutic Activities. Currently, there are a total of 24 Full-Time Employees (FTE) within the work unit.
The Director is responsible for first-line supervision of four (4) work unit employees and 20 second-line work unit employees.
Leads the implementation of initiatives to engage and educate community members about the CMHHIFL, our patient population, and systemic needs and barriers.
Stakeholders may include, but are not limited to, the Office of Civil and Forensic Mental Health, Regional Accountable Entities (RAE), Community Boards, Health Care Policy and Financing (HCPF), Social Security Administration, the community safety net partners, and other agencies geared towards addressing and planning for patient needs.
Clinical services may include application of discipline-specific theories, frameworks, and/or models of practice, which are applied during assessments, as well as group and individual treatment planning and intervention.
All service provision requires detailed documentation within an electronic health record.
As Director of one of the hospital work units with licensed clinicians, this position is required to remain informed of all statutes, policies, and procedures related to abuse and neglect screening and reporting.
The Director supports all licensed staff in adhering to those requirements and collaborates with leadership and other departments to ensure
Nine (9) years of relevant experience in an occupation related to the work assigned to this position
OR
Education and Experience:A combination of related education and/or relevant experience in an occupation related to the work assigned is equal to nine (9) years.
Experience working with psychiatric inpatient settings, SPMI, and/or forensic populations
Experience in program development, evaluation, and quality improvement
Knowledge of behavioral health regulations and accreditation standards
Experience leading multidisciplinary teams and coordinating external partnerships
