Requirements

As a Director of Laboratories, DOH, you will serve as the Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendments (CLIA) director providing professional scientific and administrative direction while overseeing the Bureau of Laboratories staff, functions, and operations.

You will strategically lead the laboratory and oversee safety, quality assurance, fiscal management, personnel management, current testing portfolios, and expansion of testing.

You will also lead the internal planning and development of the new joint laboratory including the movement of the facility, continuation of work, fiscal impact, personnel impact, and workflow changes.

This role requires the ability to develop positive and constructive relationships to work closely with internal and external partners.

In addition, you will partner with public health laboratories nationwide, as well as across bureaus including the Bureau of Epidemiology, the Bureau of Emergency Preparedness and Response, and the Bureau of Community Health Systems to collaborate on solutions, enhance services, and actively guide future priorities.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment, 37.5 hours per week
  • Work hours are 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 60-minute lunch.
  • Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time, during inclement weather or office closures.

    In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania.

    If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Lionville, PA. The ability to telework is subject to change at any time.

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS

Special Requirements:

  • You must meet the qualifications under the provisions of the federal Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendment (CLIA) for Laboratory Director (§493.1443) at the time of hire.
  • You must meet the Qualifications of Director under 28 Pa. Code §5.21.88 and the Pennsylvania Clinical Laboratory Act at the time of hire.

  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.
