This part-time job involves preparing and serving meals, maintaining a clean kitchen, and ensuring safe food handling in a nursing home and residential facility for veterans in Monte Vista, Colorado.
Workers help with cooking, dishwashing, stocking supplies, and delivering food to residents who can't come to the dining area.
It's a good fit for reliable, detail-oriented people who enjoy teamwork in a supportive environment and have basic food service experience.

This position is open to current Colorado residents only.
Acts as the cook or cook helper, prepares breakfast, lunch and supper meals and other related functions to ensure timely and nutritious meals for residents and staff.
When meals cannot be served in the Dining Room, staff will deliver meal trays to the Skilled Nursing Facility and the Domiciliary Cottages.
Fills dispensers and stocks resident refrigerator and freezers that are located on the door and keep them clean and organized. Check for outdated products.
Cleans juice, coffee and hot chocolate machine and refills as needed. These duties occur before, during, and after all resident meals. Duties to be done daily
Maintain a storeroom, i.e., stocking, inventory, cleaning, organizing food and non-food items to ensure sufficient food supplies and sanitary storage conditions.
(Daily) Clean and organize the walk-in refrigerator and freezer. Stock groceries in, refrigerator and freezer.
Keep the storeroom clean, sweep and mop floors and monitor temps and remove any outdated product. Keep all work areas and equipment clean and sanitized
Sweep and mop kitchen and dining room if hostess not scheduled. Clean steam table, set up steam table for meals, temp food items, clear up steam table and put away or dispose of leftover food.
As a dishwasher, clean the dish room and sweep and mop floors daily to ensure sanitation and infection control requirements are met.
Throw trash, refill trash cans with clean liners and cover with lids. In the absence of a hostess Set up dining room for meals, silverware, carafe of water, and glasses.
Clear and clean tables, replace tablecloths, cleaning dining rooms, sweep and mop floors. Cleaning duties as assigned.
Attend mandatory and non-mandatory Inservice for department and facility. Complete competencies for the department yearly. Completes daily paperwork as assigned.
Attend all staff refresher courses when scheduled. Completes Relias and Cornerstone training on or before the due date.
May be required to travel in a state vehicle with leadership to purchase products for the Dietary Department or attend training.
This position requires State of Colorado residency at the time of application (unless otherwise identified in the posting), and residency within the state throughout the duration of employment in this position

Preferred Qualifications & Competencies:
Relevant years of state service experience.
