This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Certain Personnel of the DoD Workforce to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service.

About the Position: This announcement is to recruit for a Dietitian (Holistic Health and Fitness) position located at Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri.

Basic Requirement for Dietitian (Holistic Health and Fitness): Degree: Bachelor's or graduate (or higher level) degree in the field of dietetics, food, nutrition, food service management, institution management, or related science.

The curriculum must have been in accordance with the qualifying requirements established by the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics (AND) (formerly American Dietetic Association (ADA) prior to January 1, 2012) in effect at the time of graduation.

The educational program must have been accredited by the Accreditation Council for Education in Nutrition and Dietetics (ACEND), or an accrediting body recognized by the U.S.

Department of Education at the time the degree was obtained.

(Note: You must attach a copy of your transcripts.) OR Completion of a coordinated undergraduate program, internship, or other clinical component approved by the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics (AND) (formerly American Dietetic Association (ADA)) for dietitians or nutritionists.

(Note: You must attach proof of completion, to include AND/ADA verification.) OR Professional registration as a Registered Dietitian (RD) or Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (RDN).

(Note: You must provide a copy of your registration.) Exemption: You are exempt from the basic requirements above if you are a current federal employee occupying a position in the 0630 occupational series and have been continuously employed in this occupational series since September 27, 2017 or before.

Note: You will be required to provide appropriate documentation to the respective Human Resources Office to validate your status.

In addition to meeting the basic requirement above, to qualify for this position you must also meet the qualification requirements listed below: Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes assessing nutrition related concerns of individuals or groups, providing nutritional counseling or interventions, educating on performance nutrition, and developing and monitoring an organization's nutrition program.

This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-11). Major Duties:

  • Serve as the Registered Dietitian/Nutritionist for an Army brigade sized unit.
  • Deliver individual, group, and unit nutrition services and education to optimize Solder performance, overall unit readiness, and mission success.
  • Work with an interdisciplinary team to communicate and coordinate programming appropriate to the needs of health and injured Soldiers.
  • Conduct assessments to identify nutrition-related concerns of individuals and units.
  • Develop comprehensive performance nutrition programs that improve foundational health and optimize environmental and task-specific performance.
  • Execute and evaluate programs, services, education, and resources for performance enhancement.
