Full Job Description

NorthPoint Health & Wellness Center is seeking a Dietitian to provide Medical Nutrition Therapy for a variety of conditions, such as hyperlipidemia, obesity, or diabetes.

Location and hours:
This position is located at the NorthPoint Health and Wellness Center at 2220 Plymouth Avenue North, Minneapolis, MN 55411. Work hours are Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m., with periodic evening and weekend hours. New Employee Orientation (NEO) for all new benefit-earning employees is in-person in downtown Minneapolis. Details about NEO will be provided upon hire.

In this position, you will:
  • Conduct interviews with patients, clients, and/or family members and review medical charts and laboratory results to determine nutritional needs of patients and clients.
  • Develop and implement generational and culturally specific nutrition care plans for patients and clients based on needs.
  • Assess appropriate nutrition and medication regimen, including diet order, internal and/or parental regimens, and make corresponding recommendations to health care providers.
  • Provide nutrition education to patients, families, and caregivers and work with an interdisciplinary team to provide nutrition education and therapy within a comprehensive prenatal care coordination program.
  • Monitor patient's responses to Medical Nutrition Therapy (MNT).
  • Document nutritional care provided, responses to care, and changes in care plan, and review written discharge instructions with patients and families.
  • Collaborate with other members of the interdisciplinary health care team about the nutritional needs of patients and make appropriate referrals to health care providers.
  • Facilitate education in group setting for meal planning, cooking hypertension, and/or diabetes and work collaboratively with clinic and human services departments to source grants and provide outreach and education opportunities within the clinic and the north side community.
  • Assist with maintaining American Diabetes Association Education Program registration and compliance.
Need to have:
  • Bachelor's degree or higher in food/nutrition or dietetics.
  • Completion of an American Dietetic Association approved internship program.
  • Must be a Registered Dietitian (RD).
  • Must have licensure in Minnesota as a Licensed Dietitian (LD) OR must become licensed by the State of Minnesota within six months of employment.
Nice to have:
Candidates with fluency in another language in addition to English are encouraged to apply. Bilingual candidates who pass a language assessment may qualify for additional bilingual pay and duties.
