About the Position: This position is located at Elmendorf Air Force Base, Alaska. This is a Direct Hire Solicitation A recruitment or relocation incentive may be authorized.

You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

Basic Requirement for Dietitian: Degree: Bachelor's or graduate (or higher level) degree in the field of dietetics, food, nutrition, food service management, institution management, or related science in an educational program accredited by the Accreditation Council for Education in Nutrition and Dietetics (ACEND), or an accrediting body recognized by the U.S.

Department of Education at the time the degree was obtained.

OR Completion of a coordinated undergraduate program, internship, or other clinical component approved by the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics (AND) (formerly American Dietetic Association (ADA)) for dietitians or nutritionists.

OR Professional registration as a Registered Dietitian (RD) or Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (RDN).

Exemption: You are exempt from the basic requirements above if you are a current federal employee occupying a position in the 0630 occupational series and have been continuously employed in this occupational series since September 27, 2017 or before.

Note: You will be required to provide appropriate documentation to the respective Human Resources Office to validate your status.

In addition to meeting the basic requirement above, to qualify for this position you must also meet the qualification requirements listed below: Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes counseling clients on healthy lifestyle behaviors to minimize health risks, interviewing patients to obtain nutritional lifestyle data, and conducting patient education for individual and/or group classes.

This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-09). OR Education: Ph.D.

or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as: [insert applicable field(s) of study].

OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%.

To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12.

Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the second year (total graduate semester hours minus 36) by 18. Add the two percentages. Major Duties:

  • Accept and respond to referrals from MTF and network providers to counsel clients on healthy lifestyle behaviors.
  • Adopt and implement appropriate clinical practice guidelines and protocols and coordinate implementation, integration, and process improvement with Primary Care and Specialty Care Clinics.
  • Use health promotion strategic plan assessment results and installation population health priorities to develop and plan comprehensive, integrated, and effective primary, secondary, and tertiary nutrition programs and services.
  • Facilitate environmental assessment and community-based education/intervention to encourage and support healthy eating practices, weight gain prevention, and weight loss maintenance initiatives.
  • Prepare and maintain records of appointments for scheduling and billing.
