Full Job Description

About the Position: Serves as a Diet Technician, performing a variety of technical and clerical duties in support of the Clinical Dietetics Branch at Army Medical Center Madigan Clinical Support Division Care.

This is a Direct Hire Solicitation Who May Apply: US Citizens In order to qualify, you must meet the education and/or experience requirements described below.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social).

You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application.

Specialized Experience: I have one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-04 grade level in the Federal service which includes screening and reviewing patient data; assisting patient with menu selection and meal orders; evaluating patient trays and customer satisfaction.

OR Education: Four-year course of study leading to a bachelor's degree with a major study or at least 24 semester hours in subjects directly related to the position, such as Nursing Assistant, Nutrition, or Dietetics or related field of study.

OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%.

To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide your semester hours of education beyond two years (total semester hours minus 60) by 60.

Add the two percentages. Major Duties:

  • Conduct nutrition risk screening for new patients within 24 hours.
  • Review patient data to complete the patient’s nutrition risk assessment using automated systems.
  • Refer all high risk nutritional screens and any other concerns to the Registered Dietitian.
  • Provide follow-up as needed to complete the nutrition care plan and to evaluate the patient’s understanding.
  • Use ward diet rosters to provide room service for patient feeding.
  • Evaluate and report findings on the accuracy of patient trays and patient satisfaction surveys.
  • Perform clerical duties such as answering phones, booking patient appointments, and filing documents.
