Job Description

Summary

This job is for a detective in the Navy's security team at a base in Tennessee, where you'll investigate crimes, gather evidence, and help build cases to arrest suspects while following the law.

Full Job Description

You will serve as a Detective in the Force Protection Department of NSA MID SOUTH TN SEC DET.

In order to qualify for this position, your resume must provide sufficient experience and/or education, knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the duties of the specific position for which you are being considered.

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-7 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector.

Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Conducting investigations into alleged or suspected violations of criminal laws and military regulations in accordance with laws, ordinances, regulations, and policies; 2) Responding to crime scenes to collect and preserve evidence; 3) Preparing case records to include investigation findings and recommendations; and 4) Presenting evidence and/or testimony during legal proceedings.

  • You will conduct short and long-term investigations of crimes to apprehend and arrest violators.
  • You will charge or convict a person of a violation in compliance with criminal law.
  • You will understand law enforcement instructions to protect the constitutional rights of suspects, witnesses, and victims.
  • You will write reports relating to criminal and civil security hazards, complaints, and witness statements for use in future legal proceedings and investigations.
