Base salary range: $62,107 - $80,737

This job involves monitoring air traffic and operating radar and surveillance systems to ensure secure airspace for the President, Vice President, and other key figures, working in a high-stakes environment with the U.S.
Secret Service. You'll oversee detection equipment, communicate threats in real-time, and coordinate security plans with various teams.

Joining the Secret Service, Office of Technical Operations, Aviation and Airspace Security Division, will allow you to provide a technically secure environment for the President and Vice President, as well as the other prominent individuals.

To be considered qualified for this position you must meet the following qualification requirements for the respective grade level in which you are applying.
You qualify for the GS-11 level (starting salary $$85,447.00) if you possess one of the following: One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-11 level performing duties such as: Monitoring air traffic and operating radar and air surveillance detection systems; Operating detection and surveillance equipment (such as radar, sensors, or cameras) that require accurate manual control; Preparing detailed surveillance activity reports; Coordinating airspace security matters with internal and external stakeholders.
OR You have successfully completed a Ph.D.
or equivalent doctoral degree, or three full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree, or LL.M., if related, from an accredited college or university that provided the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to perform this work.

OR You have a combination of specialized experience (less than one year) and graduate education (beyond 2 years of graduate education), that when combined equals 100% of the qualification requirement.
Note: Only graduate education in excess of two years (generally 36 semester hours) may be used in this calculation.

Major Duties:
The selectee will serve as a Detection Systems Specialist in the Office of Technical Operations, Aviation and Airspace Security Division.
Typical work assignments include: Overseeing and monitoring air traffic, utilizing a remote integrated display involving both primary and secondary radar data.
Utilizing sophisticated, computerized radar data (speed, bearing, range and altitude). Operating various radar and air surveillance detection systems.
Communicating information on airborne tracks to personnel within an operation's center environment.
Transmitting clear and concise radio transmissions on airborne tracks to security personnel on the ground to enhance overall situational awareness.
Coordinating the planning of surveillance and communication for all aspects of airspace security.
