The Commissioner of the Revenue for the City of Norfolk is seeking to hire an innovative and results-oriented professional to work in the Personal Property Tax Department.
The Personal Property Tax department is responsible for the assessment of automobiles, trucks, aircraft, campers, mobile homes, motorcycles, trailers and recreational vehicles.
Duties also include the use of taxation formulas and conducting research utilizing DMV reports, company lists, tax records, vehicle guides, databases and online resources.
In addition, the department is charged with providing DMV Select Services which consists of vehicle titling, registration, license plates, voter registration, and car dealer transactions.
The Personal Property Team has significant interaction with the public, providing exceptional customer service and problem resolution.
Furthermore, the department performs administrative duties by writing correspondence to citizens and staff, entering data, making necessary changes to accounts, preparing reports for statistical analysis, organizing and scanning documentation.
While this position is currently for the Personal Property Department, successful applicants may be moved to other departments to meet the needs of the office.
Work requires knowledge of a specific vocational, administrative, or technical nature which may be obtained within six months/one year of advanced study or training past the high school equivalent. Junior college, vocational, business, technical or correspondence schools are likely sources.
