Departmental Technician E (7-E9)
This position functions as paraprofessional technician to support the Permanency Planning and Regional Placement Unit staff. Position will exercise programmatic responsibility to assure efficient and effective program operation as a while and assists staff to deliver competent, quality services to accomplish permanency goals and objectives. Position is responsible to compile, review, track and evaluate services related to child welfare policy and federal child welfare goals.
Position Description (E 7-E9 Levels)

Departmental Technician A (10)
This advanced level Departmental Technician provides assistance to BSC (Business Service Center) 5 Regional Placement and Support (RPS) staff, as the Recognized Resource for the Power BI program, which is software that is utilized extensively by this unit for analyzing data. This position serves as a troubleshooter pertaining to technical support functions and performs advanced level research and analysis for RPS staff and management. This position provides training to other staff within the office; exercises programmatic responsibility to assure efficient and effective program operation as a whole and assists staff to deliver competent, quality services to accomplish permanency goals and objectives. Position is responsible to compile, review, track and evaluate services related to child welfare policy and federal child welfare goals.

    Requirements

    Education

    Education typically acquired through completion of high school.

    Experience
    Departmental Technician 7

    One year of experience performing administrative support activities equivalent to the 7-level in state service.

    Departmental Technician 8

    One year of experience performing administrative support activities equivalent to the 8-level in state service.

    OR

    One year of experience as a technician or paraprofessional equivalent to the entry level in state service.

    Departmental Technician E9

    One year of experience as a supervisor of administrative support activities equivalent to the 9-level in state service.

    OR

    One year of experience performing administrative support activities equivalent to the 9-level in state service.

    OR

    Two years of experience as a technician or paraprofessional, including one year of experience equivalent to the intermediate level in state service.

    Departmental Technician 10

    Two years of experience as a supervisor of administrative support activities equivalent to the 9-level in state service.

    OR

    Two years of experience performing administrative support activities equivalent to the 9-level in state service.

    OR

    Three years of experience as a technician or paraprofessional, including one year of experience equivalent to the experienced level in state service.

    Qualifications

    Departmental Technician 7

    Completion of two years of college (60 semester or 90 term credits) may be substituted for the experience requirement.
    Departmental Technician 8
    Possession of a Bachelor's degree may be substituted for the experience requirement.
    Departmental Technician E9
    Possession of a Bachelor's degree and one year of job-related experience may be substituted for the experience requirement.

    Departmental Technician 10
    Possession of a Bachelor’s degree and one year of professional experience may be substituted for the experience requirement.

    Additional Information

    This position will be filled at one of the following levels, based on the preferred candidate’s qualifications: Departmental Technician 7, 8, E9, or 10.

    The physical location of this position is 3040 W. Grand Blvd, Ste 5-100, Detroit, MI 48202.

    Based on operational needs and within established limits, remote work and alternate or hybrid work schedule requests for this position may be considered.

    Selected candidates who have been approved to work remotely or a hybrid schedule must complete that work within Michigan. Candidates should confirm work location and schedule at the time of interview.

    Employees will be provided computers to perform state work. Phones may also be provided for necessary communications. If working remotely, employees will be responsible for providing other components of a remote office at their own expense, including:
    • A secure work location that allows privacy and prevents distractions.
    • A high-speed internet connection of at least 25 Mbps download and 5 Mbps upload.
    • Suitable lighting, furniture, and utilities.
