Job Description

Summary

This role involves supporting the accreditation and training of Veteran Service Officers across Michigan, analyzing data on benefit claims, and managing a web-based system used by these officers to help veterans.

It suits someone organized and detail-oriented with experience in training, data analysis, or working with veterans, who wants to contribute to state services for military personnel.

The position scales from entry-level to advanced, depending on experience, within the Michigan Veterans Affairs Agency.

Key Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in any major (or equivalent military experience at E-6 level or above with two years active duty)
  • For Analyst 9: No specific professional experience required
  • For Analyst 10: One year of professional experience
  • For Analyst 11: Two years of professional experience, including one year at intermediate (10) level equivalent
  • For Analyst 12: Three years of professional experience, including one year at experienced (P11) level equivalent
  • Knowledge of veteran benefits, accreditation processes, and training development
  • Skills in research, data analysis, performance metrics, and web-based systems

This position functions as the Training Accountability Analyst for the Michigan Veterans Affairs Agency (MVAA). There are two concepts - please see each individual position description below.

Departmental Analyst 9-P11:
This position functions as the Training Accountability Analyst for the Michigan Veterans Affairs Agency (MVAA). The Training Accountability Analyst assists with the Agency’s Veteran Service Officer (VSO) accreditation process as well as developing and conducting training for VSO’s in the State of Michigan. This position conducts research, analysis, and presents data in support of the Agency’s accreditation of VSO’s and on-going agency initiatives. The Training Accountability Analyst assists with the MVAA’s web-based claims system that is used daily by VSO’s across Michigan. This position assists with the development and monitoring of performance metrics related to benefit claims processed by MVAA veteran service officers, veteran service organizations, and Michigan counties.

Departmental Analyst 12:
This position functions as the Training Accountability Analyst for the Michigan Veterans Affairs Agency (MVAA). The Training Accountability Analyst is the Recognized Resource for the Agency’s Veteran Service Officer (VSO) accreditation process as well as developing and conducting training for VSO’s in the State of Michigan. This position conducts research, analysis, and presents data in support of the Agency’s accreditation of VSO’s and on-going agency initiatives. The Training Accountability Analyst oversees the MVAA’s web-based claims system that is used daily by VSO’s across Michigan. This
position develops and monitors performance metrics related to benefit claims processed by MVAA veteran service officers, veteran service organizations, and Michigan counties.

Education

Experience

Departmental Analyst 9

No specific type or amount is required.

Departmental Analyst 10
One year of professional experience.

Departmental Analyst P11
Two years of professional experience, including one year of experience equivalent to the intermediate (10) level in state service.

Departmental Analyst 12
Three years of professional experience, including one year of experience equivalent to the experienced (P11) level in state service.

Qualifications

Departmental Analyst 9 - 12 

Educational level typically acquired through completion of high school and the equivalent of at least two years of full-time active-duty experience at or above the E-6 level in the uniformed services may be substituted for the education requirement.
