York Technical College, a member of the South Carolina Technical and Comprehensive Education System, is a public, two-year institution of higher education that offers a variety of associate degrees, diplomas, and certificates. Through maximizing student success, the College seeks to contribute to the economic growth and development of York, Lancaster, and Chester counties and of the State.

The Department Chair provides leadership in achieving the operational goals of the department. Key responsibilities include ensuring program quality, student success, and compliance with accreditation standards. The role involves curriculum development, faculty recruitment, mentoring, evaluation, and budget management. The Chair also coordinates advising, course scheduling, and community partnerships, while actively participating in college committees and initiatives. Teaching responsibilities include preparing lectures, updating syllabi, evaluating tests, and providing feedback to students. The Chair ensures effective classroom management and maintains a positive learning environment. Other duties include student advisement, maintaining records, and pursuing professional development opportunities.
