This part-time dental hygienist role at a Nashville public health clinic focuses on providing preventive dental care, like cleanings and sealants, mainly to children up to age 21, along with some emergency services for adults and school-based programs.
It also involves educating patients and communities on oral health to promote better habits.
A good fit would be someone passionate about helping underserved families, with strong patient education skills and experience in community health outreach.
Performs dental sealant and dental prophylaxis procedures, as well as fluoride treatments as needed.Works with patients to obtain and inspect dental images.Assists in the promotion of dental health programs.Conducts dental educational programs.Educates patients in sound oral hygiene practices.Serves as dental health resource person for nursing staff.Conducts dental health educational activities in all types of assemblies.Assists with the preparation of dental health educational materials.Performs any expanded duty which may be delegated to a certified or registered dental assistant; keeps records and makes reports.
Qualifications Graduation from an accredited school of dental hygiene; three (3) years’ experience as a dental hygienist; and licensed to practice dental hygiene in the State of Tennessee.
