This job involves supporting dentists and hygienists in a public health clinic or mobile unit by preparing patients, handling instruments, taking X-rays, and managing paperwork and schedules.
It also includes setting up mobile dental units and maintaining supplies.
A good fit would be someone detail-oriented with basic dental training and customer service skills, comfortable with both hands-on tasks and office work.

Education and Experience: High School Diploma, GED, or higher and graduation from an accredited dental assistance program. Six (6) months of work experience in a dental office or clinic, or at least 500 hours of dental clinical rotation experience.
Licenses and Certificates: Certification as a Dental Assistant through completion of a Dental Assistant course from an accredited College or Technical School.
Certified in Dental X-ray proficiency as prescribed by the Texas Department of Public Health. Valid Texas Class "C" Driver's License or equivalent from another state.
Under general supervision, assist the dentist or dental hygienist with patient examinations and dental procedures and perform a variety of diverse and complex clerical tasks.
Assist dental professionals. Involves: Register patients and prepare patient files. Assist patients in filling out necessary documents for federal and state assistance.
Prepare forms for patients with insurance. Gather completed forms, obtain signatures, and make photocopies of necessary documents.
Print the dentist and hygienist's daily schedule to prepare for the day. Seat patients and verbally prepare them for the intended procedure. Arrange dental instruments and materials for each patient.
Assists in radiographic examinations, developing exposed films, and filing patients' completed films, case reports, and records. Clean, sterilize, and assemble dental instruments following treatment.
Maintain dental equipment and clinic area in neat and clean condition. Assist with the exiting of patients via computer. Update dental patient records in the Dentrix database systems by entering data.
Prepare receipts for services rendered, collect fees, and post daily sheets. Answer and professionally respond to telephone calls to schedule appointments and deliver information.
Provide administrative support related to dental supplies and equipment to maintain supply inventory. Assist in dental mobile deployment preparations to include set and break down of the unit.
Assist Senior Dental Assistant with any additional duties.
