Job Description

Summary

This job involves leading and managing deep ocean search and recovery efforts for the Navy, including overseeing operations with underwater vehicles and ensuring everything runs smoothly and safely.

Full Job Description

You will serve as a DEEP OCEAN SEARCH AND RECOVERY MANAGER in the SALVAGE DIVISION (SEA 002) of NAVSEA HQ FIELD SUPPORT.

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the NH-03 pay band (or GS-13 equivalent) in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector providing programmatic, technical, and operational management for all aspects of search and recovery operations (e.g., towing and heavy lift, deep ocean salvage, open-sea pollution abatement) to support Naval, fleet, or shore activities.

  • You will be responsible for the program, technical, and operational management of all aspects of search and recovery operations and unmanned, remote-operated and autonomous underwater vehicle development and operations.
  • You will serve as the Navy's expert and senior operations specialist and technical SME in underwater search and recovery operations.
  • You will review and/or direct the review of operational plans submitted by Fleet activities, shore establishments, other Federal agencies, and other Systems Commands for accuracy and technical content.
  • You will make field inspections of projects to determine design and operational requirements; inspecting on-going projects to determine adequacy of employed systems, operational plans, and conformance with directives, specifications, and regulations.
  • You will direct the development and then review modification, maintenance, and life cycle management of search and recovery systems and unmanned vehicles.
  • You will provide requested operational and financial information for use in formulating project and program costs.
  • You will develop policies, regulations, and criteria for use by Fleet and shore activities in conducting search and unmanned submersible operations.
  • You will prepare and present oral and written presentations to any or all levels of management within government or private industry to effectively prove and justify significant deviations from established policy, procedures, or regulations.
