Full Job Description

This position is part of the Southwestern Indian Polytechnic Institute (SIPI), Bureau of Indian Education (BIE), Department of the Interior (DOI).

As a Dean of Advanced Technology Education you will be responsible for providing supervisory and leadership duties to the Advanced Technology Education Department.

Applicants must meet the OPM approved alternative qualification requirements for professional instructor positions classified in the GS-1701 General Education and Training Series at Southwestern Indian Polytechnic Institute.

BASIC REQUIREMENTS FOR SUPV INSTRUCTORS, GS-1701-12: Degree: Master's degree in education administration or in a subject matter field appropriate to the position (typically a master's degree in the specialty fields of instruction within the Advanced Technology Education Department, such as Culinary Arts, Engineering, Natural Resources, Geography, Environmental Science, and Computer Science).

In addition to meeting the Basic Requirement, you must also meet the Minimum Qualifications requirements below.

SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Experience that equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled.

To be creditable, specialized experience must have been equivalent to at least the next lower grade level in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization.

GS-12: Applicant meets the basic education requirement and possess one (1) year of specialized experience.

This experience must be related to the work of the position and equivalent to at least the GS-11 level in the Federal service.

Examples include: serving as a postsecondary education administrator leading faculty and staff in a college/university environment; analyze college/university department needs and develop budget proposals; planning and developing curricula and training materials for college/university courses; establishing and interpreting performance standards related to post-secondary education; and utilizing academic records for college/university program assessment and evaluation.

All qualification requirements must be met by the closing date of this announcement. Major Duties:

As a Supervisory Instructor (Dean of Advanced Technology Education), GS-1701-12, your typical work assignments may include the following under supervision: Provide leadership and management for faculty and staff within the Academic Department.

Serve as an educator administrator who carries out the full range of duties and responsibilities typically related to a college academic program.

Develop goals and objectives that integrate with the College's mission framework, institutional outcomes, and objectives.

Provide leadership in the development and oversight of faculty committees charged with teaching, developing educational materials and special initiative projects within the academic department.

Advise and assist faculty in the planning, creation, evaluation and assessment, validation and update of instructional and pedagogical materials and media.

Participate in evaluating the requirements for emerging technologies, system functionality, and delivery platforms to enhance delivery of instructional programs.
