The Division of Trading and Markets (TM), Office of Analytics and Research (OAR) is seeking applicants for their Data Visualization and Market Structure Analyst (Financial Analyst) positions.
These positions will require a blend of data analysis skills, financial market structure understanding, and the ability to effectively communicate across the Division and Commission.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENT: SK-14: Applicant must have at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS/SK-13 level: Developing tools and applications, including dashboards and visualizations, for monitoring and/or analyzing financial markets, based on market and/or audit trail data, and interpreting the results; and Performing large-scale data-driven analysis and research related to securities, financial market structure, financial market regulations, or financial markets policy.

As a Data Visualization and Market Structure Analyst, you will provide analytical and quantitative support to the Division's policy work related to the structure and operations of the securities markets, including by developing market monitoring, visualization, and analytics tools.
The roles will build data visualizations, dashboards, and analytical tools to support market monitoring work across a range of asset classes; work with large volumes of market and audit trail data to conduct market structure research; and work closely with staff across the Division to build empirical insight into policy deliberations.
In this role as a Data Visualization and Market Structure Analyst, you will be responsible for: Undertaking detailed data-intensive research efforts on a wide array of matters related to the operations and structure of financial markets using large, complex data sets, including market and audit trail data.
Developing tools and applications, including visualizations and dashboards, that provide SEC staff and leadership with rapid insights into the state and functioning of markets.
Developing and presenting analytical products that are clear and easily understood by staff who may not have extensive technical or quantitative backgrounds, to inform SEC policy choices or identify emerging issues, trends, and risks that may merit SEC action.
Using a variety of technical tools, including programming languages, to analyze market and audit trail data from multiple sources to develop insights for market monitoring, market event analysis, and use in policy.
Analyzing policy issues that arise as a result of market monitoring, self-regulatory organization rule proposals, or other Commission policy work, and developing meaningful research questions amenable to empirical analysis that can provide actionable insight into those issues.
