This job involves overseeing the daily operations of a dairy processing plant, including making fluid milk and ice cream, managing a milk testing lab, and handling inventory, storage, and shipping of products.
It requires ensuring all work follows state and federal food safety rules, with possible long hours during busy times or emergencies.
A good fit would be someone with hands-on experience in food production or agriculture who is reliable and detail-oriented, especially in a prison farm setting.
Under limited supervision of the dairy processing manager.
Position is responsible for the operation of all fluid processing and ice cream manufacturing including operation of a regulated milk testing laboratory.
Responsibilities to include, but are not limited to, inventory, processing, record keeping, storage and shipment of all production including surplus raw milk products.
Also responsible for compliance with all states (SCCHEC) and federal (FDA & USDA) regulatory guidelines.
Position requires extended work hours during peak seasons and/or during emergencies to include agriculture division dairy and other operations.
The agriculture division director has deemed position essential and must be manned during all state or agency emergencies.
A high school diploma and relevant program experience. A bachelor's degree may be substituted for the required program experience.
