About the position: This position is Non-Appropriated Fund (NAF) and will be assigned to the Outdoor Recreation Center on JBER, AK.

Flexible employees have work schedules that depend on the needs of the activity. You may work a minimum of 0 to a maximum of 40 hours per week.

Flexible employees may be subjected to "on call" work in addition to hours posted on the schedule. Who May Apply: Open to everyone.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social).

You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if the position allows for qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application.

Qualifying Experience: Must know the proper uses of a variety of special cleaning and sanitizing solutions and how to remove different kinds of stains from a wide variety of surfaces.

Must be able to clean and adjust power cleaning equipment.

The work involves light physical effort, such as that involved in using vacuum cleaners and dry mops; running lightweight powered scrubbers and buffers; continually standing, bending, stooping, and reaching; frequently lifting and emptying wastebasket; frequently pushing carts loaded with dirty laundry or wastepaper; occasionally lifting and carrying items weighing up to 20 pounds.

Major Duties:

Maintains areas of Outdoor Recreation in an orderly and clean manner. These areas include, Famcamp showers & restrooms, Otter Lake Cabins, Black Spruce Campgrounds, and administrative areas within ODR.

Dusts ledges and woodwork. Empties ashtrays and waste baskets. Occasionally works on ladders/scaffolds to clean.

Cleans glass partitions, inside and outside windows, using stepladders and extension ladders. Maintains restrooms in clean, orderly, and sanitary condition.

Cleans, disinfects, and deodorizes, lavatories, urinals, and toilet bowls. Cleans, mirrors, and water fountains.

Sweeps, mops, strips, waxes and/or polishes floors using brooms, industrial-type floor scrubbers and other heavy powered cleaning equipment. Replace deodorizers, toilet tissue, hand towels, and soap.

Reports water leaks, clogged drains, and other conditions requiring maintenance to supervisor.

Maintains supply of cleaning materials, and advises supervisor when more supplies are needed, or when equipment needs repair or replacement.

Performs seasonal tasks as required, such as, applying ice control material to entrances of buildings, shoveling snow, picking up litter around buildings, mowing grass, and watering lawns around buildings.

May be required to operate a GOV to travel to work locations. Performs other related duties as assigned.
