This position perform the full range of custodial work including: cleaning and servicing vault toilets, buildings, campgrounds, and emptying trash receptacles.
These positions are required to operate a government vehicle to perform assigned work and may provide general labor assistance to others in the maintenance of buildings, grounds, roads, trails, etc.
These are uniformed positions and must be able to respond to visitors politely. There are three districts hiring at Yellowstone National Park. North District:. Elevation at Mammoth is 6,200 feet.
Temperatures vary from an average of 70 degrees Fahrenheit in summer to sub-zero at times in winter.
A school is available, with kindergarten through 12, in Gardiner, Montana, five miles north of headquarters. Free bus transportation is provided for school children between Mammoth and Gardiner.
Many community facilities such as stores, a drugstore, day care, motels, and restaurants are available in Gardiner. A medical clinic is available in Mammoth.
All other services are available within 55 to 75 miles from Mammoth.
Lake District: The approximate elevation is 7,700 feet with an average temperature of 70 degrees Fahrenheit in the summer to sub-zero in winter.
During the winter months, the snow accumulation on the ground averages 30-inches.
During the time period of November - April, the interior park roads are closed to wheeled vehicle traffic and only accessible via snow machine.
The closest neighboring communities for year around amenities are Cody Wyoming (64 miles - 2.5 hours via snow machine) and Jackson Wyoming (98 miles - 4 hours via snow machine) During the summer months Lake community facilities include a store, medical clinic, motels, and a restaurant.
All other services are available at Cody or Jackson Wyoming. Housing is available for this position. West District: including West Yellowstone MT, Madison Junction WY, and Old Faithful, WY.
The nearest developed town is in West Yellowstone, along with a medical clinic, year-round post office, grocery stores, and a K-12 school.
Elevation is approximately 7,000-7,700 feet above sea level, and temperatures can range from -30 degrees Fahrenheit in winter, to 80 degrees Fahrenheit in the summer.
Old Faithful has lodging available in the summer and winter seasons, a summertime medical clinic and post office, as well as general stores.
Winter accessibility is limited to snowmobile use and roads are groomed nightly.
