This job involves leading a team of cleaners during the night shift in the House Office Buildings, where you'll guide the work, demonstrate proper cleaning methods, and perform hands-on cleaning tasks in public areas and rooms.

The role requires working from 9:30 p.m. to 6:00 a.m., with potential extra pay for the night shift.
This position is located in the Architect of the Capitol (AOC), Office of the Chief Operating Office, Superintendent, House Office Buildings (HOB), Assistant Superintendent, Client Services Division, Labor and Custodial Branch and may be assigned to any section within the Branch.
The incumbent is a Custodial Worker Leader and sets the pace of work, provides leadership and instructions and performs and checks a cleaning duty in an assigned group of rooms and public areas.

You must meet the following SCREEN-OUT(S) required for this position: The ability to lead a team by monitoring, reviewing and checking on work progress of performing cleaning duties in an assigned group of rooms and public areas.

Tour of duty for this position is 9:30 p.m. to 6:00 a.m.
This position is emergency essential - Depending on the type of emergency the employee may be required to report to work during emergency situations.
The night shift position is subject to receive 10%-night differential. Duties include, but are not limited to: Lead the work of Custodial Workers, WG-04.
Receive work assignments and guidelines from Custodial Worker Supervisors.
Set the pace of work, demonstrate proper work procedures, check work in progress and answer questions from the Supervisor and the workers.
Perform cleaning tasks in an assigned area without instruction. Schedule cleaning tasks within the framework of an assigned schedule which states the frequency of each task. Clean and adjust equipment.
Perform minor equipment maintenance such as cleaning, oiling and changing brushes, buffer discs and rollers. Move, set up and work from scaffolds, ladders and man lifts.
Clean and maintain floors, walls and ceilings. Prepare areas for cleaning by moving heavy furniture and any other items that are required to be moved.
Replenish supplies such as toilet tissue, towels, soap, paper towels, as needed. Collect and sort recyclable materials. Collect and dispose of wet waste materials and reline wet waste containers.
Clean recycling containers. Perform other related duties as assigned.
