What You Will Be Doing:
This position is responsible for collecting, logging, maintaining, and distributing inmate property, as well as processing inmate payroll.
You will also assist Booking officers with tasks such as scheduling court hearings, collecting bail, obtaining DNA samples, and routing court documents.
Additional responsibilities include coordinating with the administrative department to process inmate commissary orders.
While these are the primary duties, you may also be assigned other related tasks to support the overall operations of the institution.

This is a flexibly staffed position, with CJT 1 classified at range 12 in the General Government Bargaining Unit and CJT 2 at range 14.
CJT 1 employees receive on the job training and may flex to CJT 2 after their first year, provided they meet the standards for promotion.
The Working Environment You Can Expect:
This position is located inside the secure portion of the facility, primarily in the Property office and Booking department. The daily work environment involves frequent interaction with both inmates and staff, with no travel required.

Please be aware – this position requires the use of the Alaska Public Safety Information Network (APSIN)/Alaska Corrections Offender Management System (ACOMS).
A security clearance issued by the Department of Public Safety (DPS) is necessary to use APSIN/ACOMS.
DPS will deny security clearance for any applicant who has been convicted of a felony or misdemeanor in this state or another jurisdiction, or who may be a fugitive from justice.
Additionally, security clearance will be withdrawn if DPS discovers that material information was falsified or omitted at the time of the initial application for security clearance.
FINGERPRINT NOTICE
All Department of Corrections employees are required to be fingerprinted. The successful candidate must pass a criminal history check.

This position is flexibly staffed. The level of the job offer will be based on the selected candidate’s credibly possessed and proven competencies. If hired at the lower level, you will be promoted to the higher level after completing the training plan and demonstrating competency in the work.
