Full Job Description

Technical Assistance: Utilize specialized software to capture, analyze, and present digital evidence, such as screenshots and chat logs. Stay updated on emerging technologies and online platforms used in crimes against children.
Under general supervision, the Program Assistant/Criminal Analyst in the Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Section supports the investigative and prosecutorial efforts of the South Carolina Attorney General’s Office to combat technology-facilitated crimes against children, including child sexual exploitation, child pornography, and cyber enticement. The role involves analyzing cyber tip data, preparing analytical reports, coordinating with law enforcement agencies, and providing administrative and technical support to ICAC investigators and prosecutors. This position plays a critical role in enhancing the Task Force’s ability to protect children and support the mission of the Attorney General’s Office. The position will also involve the monitoring and coordinating of administrative subpoenas for the SCICAC Task Force.

Data Analysis and Reporting: Analyze CyberTipline reports received from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC) to identify patterns, trends, and actionable intelligence related to internet crimes against children.

Prepare detailed reports, charts, and summaries to support investigations and prosecutions.

Investigative Support: Assist ICAC investigators and prosecutors by reviewing case files, organizing evidence, and conducting preliminary research on suspects, digital platforms, and online activities.

Provide analytical support for cases involving child sexual exploitation, criminal solicitation of minors, and distribution of child sexual abuse material.

  • Coordination with Law Enforcement: Collaborate with over 100 partnered local, state, and federal law enforcement agencies across South Carolina to facilitate information sharing, case referrals, and joint investigations. Act as a liaison to ensure effective communication and coordination.
  • Documentation and Evidence Management: Maintain accurate records of investigations, including documentation of cyber tips, suspect profiles, and digital evidence. Ensure compliance with legal and procedural requirements for evidence preservation and presentation in court.
  • Administrative Support: Provide administrative assistance to the ICAC section, including managing case files, scheduling meetings, and coordinating with other divisions within the Attorney General’s Office. Perform other related duties as assigned.

    Requirements

    HS Diploma and 4 years of experience in data analysis, criminal justice, or administrative support. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted. Experience in law enforcement, cybercrime investigations, or working with digital evidence is preferred.
    Additional Requirements:
    • Ability to work evenings, weekends, and occasionally travel overnight may be required.
    • This position may require the employee to work towards becoming a Class 3 Basic Constable.

    Qualifications

    • Above-average understanding of technology and ability to use multiple software programs.
    • Proficient in word processing/typing (55+ wpm) and routine office functions.
    • Should possess a strong knowledge of grammatical rules and legal/administrative formatting, and have the ability to effectively prioritize task completion according to schedules and goals.
    • Excellent communication skills, both written and oral, and the ability to maintain strong, positive working relationships with law enforcement and government officials is essential.
