About the Position: This is a Credentials Technician position located at Fort Drum, New York.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social).

You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

A qualified typist can type 40 words per minute based on a 5-minute sample with three or fewer errors.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes utilizing automated data processing systems or automated credentialing systems; researching records to ensure employees or applicants are in compliance with credentialing requirements; and performing administrative or clerical duties for an organization.

This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-6).

Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify.

For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted.

Major Duties:

  • Conduct prime source verification on the following credentials as relevant to the HCP or the clinical support staff member: licensure, certification, educational degrees to include medical residency training and fellowships and prior employments.
  • Screen individual healthcare provider files in accordance with Department of Defense regulations and directives.
  • Verify that all designated Healthcare Providers have received and maintain a valid, current license in accordance with governing regulations.
  • Develop agenda and minutes for the Credential Committee.
  • Process notification of privileges according to the recommendations to the Credentials Committee.
  • Interpret regulations, directives and policies relevant to the privileging and reappointment process, format and content of Practitioner Credentials and Provider Activity files.
