Summary

This job involves helping oversee a team in the civil and small claims section of the Alaska Court System, including managing schedules, guiding staff on procedures, and improving how cases are handled.

Full Job Description







This Position

Assists the Civil and Small Claims Supervisor with staff supervision, scheduling, work assignments, and performance monitoring.

Supports caseload management, workflow efficiency, and development of departmental procedures. Provides guidance on civil, small claims, and appellate procedures to staff, judges, and the public.

Assists with hiring, training, evaluating staff, and implementing updates to court rules, policies, and statutes.



Work Hours
Full-time court employees are currently scheduled to work 37.5 hours per week. The work hours for this position are Monday - Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. with a one-hour lunch break.

Requirements

Graduation from high school or completion of a General Education Development (GED) certificate AND two years of office clerical work experience AND the ability to keyboard at least 40 words per minute (net).

Substitutions:

Additional office clerical work experience will substitute for the high school diploma or GED certificate on a year-for-year basis.

Completion of 72 semester credit hours or 96 quarter credit hours of coursework from an accredited college will substitute for the two years of required office clerical work experience.

Completion of an appropriate vocational training course of study such as legal secretary, paralegal, or office skills will substitute for the required office clerical work experience on a month-for-month basis.

KEYBOARDING CERTIFICATION REQUIRED

Attach a recent keyboarding certification (dated within one year) to your application that verifies your typing speed of 40 wpm or higher (net).

WORK HISTORY
If using work experience not already documented in your application, provide the employer’s name, your job title, dates of employment and whether full or part-time. Applications will be reviewed to determine if the responses are supported and Minimum Qualifications are clearly met. EDUCATION
If post-secondary education is required to meet the Minimum Qualifications, you must fill in the Education and Training section of the application. If you have not obtained a degree, please indicate the number of credit hours earned in the Degree Obtained field. Copies of academic transcripts will be required at time of interview.

SELECTION PROCEDURE
Applicants will be required to meet the Minimum Qualifications as outlined above. Unfortunately, we cannot always interview all applicants.
