Regular duties will include:

Performs advanced legal technician duties in the processing of civil cases, including dissolutions, name changes, protective orders, appeals, and post-conviction relief matters.

Reviews and screens civil pleadings requiring court or clerk determination, monitors cases until procedurally complete for signature, and ensures all filings comply with applicable rules, statutes, and required forms.

Processes and routes ripe matters with appropriate notations, handles requests for defaults and default judgments (including backup support for small claims), distributes judgments and orders to parties and attorneys, and maintains organized and complete case files.

You will serve as a primary resource for complex procedural questions, responding to inquiries from court personnel, attorneys, agencies, and the public in writing, by phone, and in person, while working closely with judges and their staff.

Responsible for detailed data entry into the case management system, including docketing motions, dispositions, judicial reassignments, parties, and attorneys; processing ticklers and Civil Rules 4(j) and 41(e) reports; and maintaining accurate motion tracking through initial entries and subsequent updates.


The Work Hours
Full-time court employees are currently scheduled to work 37.5 hours per week. The work hours for this position are Monday – Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. with a one-hour lunch break.

Requirements

Graduation from high school or completion of a General Education Development (GED) certificate AND one year of advanced clerical work experience equivalent to a Court Case Manager 1 with the Alaska Court System or an equivalent position with another employer.

OR

Graduation from high school or completion of a General Education Development (GED) certificate AND completion of a two-year paralegal curriculum from an accredited institution.

OR

A bachelor's degree from an accredited college.
