  • Pennsylvania residency requirement is waived

Requirements

This professional social service position is assigned to the Day Treatment Program located on the Youth Campus of Lycoming County Children and Youth Services. This position will provide programming, and casework services to dependent and/or delinquent youth and their families to prevent placement or reduce the duration of placement.

Staff working in this position will provide a variety of casework related functions focused on helping program youth address their educational, treatment, and life-skills needs to realize their full potential. Employees are expected to exercise initiative and creativity in keeping youth interested and actively engaged in all aspects of the program. Staff will also engage families and promote parent/caregiver involvement in the program to support their child and address any family needs to achieve desired outcomes.

Work is performed in accordance with established regulations, policies, and procedures and will require alternate work hours/schedules to meet the seasonal and programmatic needs of the program. This position is overseen by the Day Treatment Supervisor.



Work Schedule and Additional Information:
  • Full-time employment.
  • Work hours are 8:00 PM to 4:30 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
  • Six months of experience as a County Caseworker 1; or
  • Successful completion of the County Social Casework Intern program; or
  • A bachelor's degree with a social welfare major; or
  • A bachelor's degree which includes or is supplemented by 12 college credits in sociology, social welfare, psychology, gerontology, criminal justice, or other related social sciences and one year of professional social casework experience in a public or private social service agency; or
  • Any equivalent combination of experience and training which includes 12 college credits in sociology, social welfare, psychology, gerontology, criminal justice, or other related social sciences.
  • Applicants will be considered to have met the educational requirements once they are within two months of graduating with a qualifying degree/credits.
