Requirements

This entry level professional social service position is assigned to Joinder Assessment Services Unit B, C, D, or E which is the entry point for child welfare services in Lycoming County. Primary responsibilities include the assessment of general requests/referrals for services and may include the assessment of reports of serious abuse and/or neglect. Extensive telephone, office and community contacts with consumers are required to develop recommendations for appropriate Joinder and/or community-based services. Activities include safety assurance, intake, placement, short-term assessment, information and referral, case management, and disposition recommendations. This position is under the supervision of a Joinder Assessment Unit Supervisor.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:
  • Full-time employment.
  • Work hours are 2:00 PM to 10:30 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
  • Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
  • Two years of experience as a County Social Services Aide 3 and two years of college level course work which includes 12 college credits in sociology, social welfare, psychology, gerontology, criminal justice, or other related social sciences; or
  • A bachelor's degree which includes or is supplemented by successful completion of 12 college credits in sociology, social welfare, psychology, gerontology, criminal justice, or other related social sciences; or
  • Any equivalent combination of experience and training which includes 12 college credits in sociology, social welfare, psychology, gerontology, criminal justice, or other related social sciences and one year of experience as a County Social Services Aide 3 or in a similar position performing paraprofessional case management functions.
  • Applicants will be considered to have met the educational requirements once they are within two months of graduating with a qualifying degree/credits.
