  • Ability to perform essential job functions, including in-depth interviewing and structured counseling
  • Full-time schedule (8:30 AM - 4:00 PM, Mon-Fri) with occasional outside hours and 24-hour on-call rotation
  • Required travel; no telework option

Cameron County Children & Youth Services is searching for a candidate to fill a County Caseworker 1 position. This position will provide services to ensure the safety and well-being of children in our communities.

Requirements

The objective of a professional caseworker is to provide services to individuals, families or groups to help them attain a more satisfactory social, economic, emotional or physical adjustment.

The services provided involve identifying and evaluating the issues of the client, formulating a plan of action, and implementing or directing such a plan of action. Activities normally associated with these services include: in-depth interviewing of clients to obtain information on their issues (taking social history), which requires using evaluative judgment rather than just recording information on standardized forms; knowing the availability of various agency programs, determining and verifying eligibility for program services, and providing information about these programs; providing referral services (contact with referral agencies); formulating and implementing social plans of action; structured counseling; and performing related services as required.


Work Schedule and Additional Information:
  • Full-time employment.
  • Work hours are 8:30 AM to 4:00 PM Monday - Friday, with a 1-hour lunch.
    • Caseworkers occasionally may be required to work outside regularly scheduled hours.
    • Caseworkers are required to participate in a 24 hour on call rotation.
    • Travel is required.
  • Employees receive 13 paid holidays, plus paid sick and vacation.
  • Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
  • Two years of experience as a County Social Services Aide 3 and two years of college level course work which includes 12 college credits in sociology, social welfare, psychology, gerontology, criminal justice, or other related social sciences; or
  • A bachelor's degree which includes or is supplemented by successful completion of 12 college credits in sociology, social welfare, psychology, gerontology, criminal justice, or other related social sciences; or
  • Any equivalent combination of experience and training which includes 12 college credits in sociology, social welfare, psychology, gerontology, criminal justice, or other related social sciences and one year of experience as a County Social Services Aide 3 or in a similar position performing paraprofessional case management functions.
  • Applicants will be considered to have met the educational requirements once they are within two months of graduating with a qualifying degree/credits.

  • You must pass a background investigation.
  • This position falls under the provisions of the Child Protective Services Law.
    • Under the Law, a conditional offer of employment will require submission and approval of satisfactory criminal history reports including, but not limited to, PA State Police clearance, PA Child Abuse history clearance, and FBI Fingerprint clearance.
