About the Position: This position is located at Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri. This is a Direct Hire Solicitation. A recruitment or relocation incentive may be authorized.

Salary negotiation may be available for those candidates who are new to Federal service.

Basic Requirement for Counseling Psychologist (Professional Counselor): Degree: Two full academic years of graduate study directly related to professional work in counseling psychology, or a master's degree directly related to counseling psychology.

In addition to meeting the basic requirement above, to qualify for this position you must also meet the qualification requirements listed below: Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes providing evaluation and/or assessment of patients with behavioral health issues; developing behavioral health treatment plans; and conducting individual and/or group counseling.

This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service GS-11 or above.

Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify.

For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted. Licensure: Preferred, but not required Major Duties:

• Conduct evaluations of Active Duty Service Members (ADSM), family members, retirees, and eligible Federal civilian employees referred for consultation.
• Counsel patients on primary and secondary illnesses.
• Apply complex behavioral health principles to conduct comprehensive behavioral health evaluations.
• Prepare written findings and diagnoses in a detailed, clear, and concise manner.
• Conduct ongoing review of patient progress; evaluate and modify treatment plans to meet changing needs.
• Provide individual, group, and family psychotherapy.
• Provide prevention counseling.
• Provide crisis intervention counseling.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
