About the Position: The position will work in Madigan Army Medical Center's Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) supporting Active-Duty soldiers.

The incumbent will be a member of a multidisciplinary team and responsible for leading group therapy and providing individual counseling. This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation.

Advance in Hire may be authorized. This is available for those candidates who are new to Federal service.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social).

You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application.

Basic Requirements for Counseling Psychologist: Degree: Two full academic years of graduate study directly related to professional work in counseling psychology, or a master's degree directly related to counseling psychology.

In addition to meeting the basic requirement above, to qualify for this position you must also meet the qualification requirements listed below: Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes providing comprehensive evaluations to patients; and developing or implementing treatment plans; and providing individual or group professional counseling.

This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-11).

Licensure: A current, active, valid, unrestricted license or registration as a Master's Level counseling/psychologist from a State, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a territory of the United States.

Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify.

For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted. Major Duties:

• Professional counselor in support of patients with a mental health diagnosis.
• Handle cases that present multiple issues, and the need for more complex and long-term treatment.
• Counsel patients on primary and secondary illnesses.
• Hold primary case management responsibility for implementing complex treatment plans, arranging for required services with other providers and/or outside resources as needed.
• Develop and implement orientation and training for patients, medical staff, commanders and key unit personnel, supervisors, and in the community.
