Requirements

As a Corrections Equipment Operator, you will train and oversee inmate workers loading and unloading freight. You will also be responsible for transporting freight for the Regional Laundry Operations. Duties will include:


  • Operating tractor-trailers, trucks, and other motor vehicles

  • Performing routine vehicle maintenance, safety checks, and minor equipment repairs

  • Completing reports and logs

  • Overseeing inmate workers in the completion of work assignments, conducting orientation, and training inmates in the proper methods of trailer loading and unloading

  • Inventorying all materials and tools

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment, 40 hours per week
  • Work hours are 6:00 AM to 2:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
  • This position is eligible for full retirement benefits at age 50 or 55.
  • Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.
  • Salary: Selected candidates who are new to employment with the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania will begin employment at the starting annual salary of $47,925.00 (before taxes).

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • Two years of experience in the operation of tractor-trailer trucks; or
  • A combination of experience and training which affords the applicant the required knowledges, skills, and abilities.


Special Requirements:

  • You must possess a valid Pennsylvania Class A Commercial Driver's License with air brake restriction removed.


Additional Requirements:

  • Successful completion of basic training in Elizabethtown, PA is required.
  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.

  • You must pass a background investigation and meet Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) compliance requirements.
