Job Description:
Become part of the team at Utah State Parks and step into the role of Park Manager at Coral Pink Sand Dunes, one of the state's most scenic locations. This role offers a unique chance to make a significant impact on public experience and conservation. You'll be the driving force behind all park operations, managing concessionaire contracts to leading interpretive programs and special events. Inspire and supervise our seasonal and volunteer staff, ensuring excellent customer service and fostering strong stakeholder relations. This will be a great experience for someone to advance their career in state parks. This is a job that will be challenging and stretch your abilities. There is always something to do all year round leaving little down time and a chance to get bored. This position has a great staff and fun working environment. In addition to running an operating a visitor center and gift shop, the position also has you managing campgrounds and trails in Kane county. Requirements

  • Coral Pink has been designated to provide coverage for several out of the park areas, and to provide many more opportunities for the visiting public.
  • The park has expanded the camping facilities and has increased its educational out-reach to the local public schools. The demand to perform all extra duties has had an impact on the park and its staff.
  • The overall increase in visitation of the park has demanded the need to have a presence at the visitor center during the expanded hours to facilitate the needs of the public.
  • The park manager will work closely with local, state and federal agencies>
  • This position is also required to assist with projects and maintenance at Coral Pink Sand Dunes State Park, management of concessionaire contracts and the required day to day maintenance.
  • This person manages the day to day maintenance: cleaning restrooms and campsites, litter and debris pick up, sand removal, road maintenance and minor plumbing and electrical repairs, contracts, concessionaire, stakeholder relations and other duties.
  • The park manager will manage the interpretive programs and special events, and will help out at the entrance station as needed. The park manager will lead and supervise seasonal and volunteer staff.

Qualifications

Principal duties:
  • Working on state parks infrastructure.
  • Manages State Park resources and needs. This includes facilities, infrastructure, collections, and workforce.
  • Managing the budget, employees, volunteers, foundation, and resources.
  • Marketing the park to community needs and finding financial backing.
Ideal Candidate:
  • Experience in leadership and business management.
  • Experience supervising people and projects .
  • Experience working with various committees and partners.
  • Budging skills, good communication skills, marketing skills, computer skills and programming.
  • Small equipment, park maintenance skills, good time management, accountability, and performance driven.

Additional Information

  • Risks found in potentially dangerous or unusual environmental stress situations, e.g. working in extreme outdoor weather conditions, working in remote wilderness areas, etc.
  • Valid driver license required to drive a motor vehicle on a highway in this state per UCA53-3-202(1)(a).
  • Work requires some physical exertion such as long periods of standing, recurring bending, crouching, stooping, stretching, reaching or similar activities and recurring lifting.
  • Position requires occasional travel, sometimes overnight
  • Flexible hours, may be called out on weekends and after hours.
