This job is for a cook at a Navy base in Pensacola, Florida, where you'll prepare full meals, follow recipes, and handle food in a recreational dining setting.
It's ideal for someone with hands-on cooking experience who enjoys working in a team environment and can manage kitchen tasks efficiently.
No relocation help is provided, and it requires standard federal employment checks.
This position is located in the Morale, Welfare and Recreation Department, Food, Beverage and Entertainment Department, Naval Station Pensacola, FL.

Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Ability to read and follow complicated recipes, and to combine ingredients to prepare full course meals.
Ability to follow written and oral instructions.
Knowledge of food characteristics (such as color, consistency), in order to determine freshness and quality and when foods are cooked to desired consistency.
Ability to operate food preparation appliances such as food slicer, microwave oven, blender, etc. Ability to obtain the MWR Food Handling and Alcohol Training/Certification.
You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer and part time experience.
You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week.
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., professional, philanthropic, religious, spiritual, community, student, social).

Major Duties:
Prepares and serves a wide variety of full course meals according to customer requested orders, or scheduled menus. Prepares meals and vegetables by roasting or baking.
Grills items such as chops, poultry, steaks, turning as required until adequately done.
Cooks vegetables, prepares special soups, sauces, and dressings, according to recipes, measuring and weighing ingredients.
Adjusts recipes according to desired quantities, and substitutes ingredients when required. Places cooked food in serving dishes, or steam and food carts in an eye appealing manner.
Ensures group orders are served simultaneously. In the absence of the catering manager, provides leadership to lower-level Food Service Workers and may assist in their training.
Keeps grills, stoves, appliances, and working area in a neat and clean manner in accordance with sanitation regulations. Ensures foods are properly stored and marked in accordance with regulations.
May assist in taking inventory, and/or receiving stock. Ensures appropriate documentation is properly completed for Mess transfers.
At the end of shift, ensures kitchen is properly cleaned, all foods cleared and properly stored, all trash and garbage disposed of, and all stoves and appliances turned off.
Notifies supervisor of problems encountered or appliances which are not functioning properly. May serve as a chef on a banquet serving line.
May be required to occasionally perform other duties within the Mess.
