This job is for a supervisor who leads a team handling the recording and management of land titles and property documents in Hawaii's state land records system.
The role involves overseeing daily operations, ensuring accurate updates to certificates, and helping the public and professionals with legal paperwork for real estate deals.
It's a good fit for someone with strong leadership skills, experience in property records, and a knack for customer service in a busy government office.



Plan, direct, and manage operations, and corroborate with the Registrar and Deputy Registrar of Conveyances on any escalation issues or changes to current processes and procedures such as with advancing technologies for the Branch.Work on tasks including title searching and reporting, title and escrow industry involvement, and legal documents involving property conveyances.Provide technical information and assistance to the public, attorneys, loan officers, escrow officers, and brokers on drafting and phrasing of legal documents and all matters relating to recording practices.
Qualifications To qualify, you must meet all of the following requirements:LEGAL AUTHORIZATION TO WORK: The State of Hawaii requires all persons seeking employment with the government of the State shall be citizens, nationals, or permanent resident aliens of the United States, or eligible under federal law for unrestricted employment in the United States.Education: Graduation from high school or equivalent.
Excess experience as described below or work experience requiring the ability to read and comprehend and apply written directions or a high degree of verbal skill may be substituted for education on a year-for-year basis.Experience: Applicants must possess experience of the kind, quality and amounts described below, or any equivalent combination of training and experience:Specialized Experience: Six (6) years of progressively responsible work experience which required the knowledge of an application of conveyancing laws, rules and regulations.
Such experience must have involved examining, analyzing, and/or preparing real property ownership records and documents in conformance with conveyancing statutes, rules, and regulations.Supervisory Experience: One (1) year of supervisory work experience which included: 1) planning, organizing, scheduling, and directing the work of others; 2) assigning and reviewing their work; 3) advising them on difficult work problems; 4) training and developing subordinates; and 5) evaluating their work performance.Non-Qualifying Experience: Work experience which involved searching for and summarizing land title and other legal documents to determine ownership that did not involve evaluation and analysis of such documents for proper conveyancing form, references, encumbrances, and acknowledgments will not be considered qualifying.Substitutions Allowed: Relevant substitutions as described in the Minimum Qualification Requirements will apply (click link below).The information provided above represents a summary of the Minimum Qualification Requirements.
