Full Job Description

This vacancy is for a GS - 1102 - 9, Contract Specialist located in the Department of Homeland Security, U.S. Coast Guard, BASE ALAMEDA PROCUREMENT and CONTRACTING DEPARTMENT -S in ALAMEDA, California.

Basic Requirements: This position has a positive Education Requirement in addition to at least one year of Specialized Experience or substitution of education for experience or combination (if applicable) in order to be found minimally qualified.

You MUST meet the following requirements: EDUCATION: A 4-year course of study leading to a bachelor's degree with a major in any field; or At least 24 semester hours in any combination of the following fields: accounting, business, finance, law, contracts, purchasing, economics, industrial management, marketing, quantitative methods, or organization and management.

NOTE: Applicants who have been in a GS-1102 position at a GS-12 or lower grade level since January 1, 2000, without a break in service only need to meet the additional requirements in order to qualify.

AND Specialized experience is experience that has equipped you with the particular ability, skill, and knowledge to successfully perform the duties of this position and is typically in or related to this line of work.

To qualify at the GS-09 grade level, your resume must demonstrate at least one (1) full year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-07 grade level in the federal sector.

Examples of specialized experience include performing the following types of tasks on a regular basis. Soliciting quotes or bids to procure a variety of contracts.

Participates as a team member on an acquisition management review team or any equivalent assignments.

OR 2 full academic years of progressively higher-level graduate education, or a master's or equivalent graduate degree in accounting, business, finance, law, contracts, purchasing, economics, industrial management, marketing, quantitative methods, or organization and management.

You will serve as a Contract Specialist and be responsible for performing assignments in support of local or centralized procurement activity for the acquisition of supplies, services, or minor construction.

Being a Coast Guard civilian makes you a valuable member of the Coast Guard team. Typical work assignments include: Participate in the development of procurements.

Solicit for and evaluate quotes or bids. Prepare contract documentation. Administer contracts.
