Job Description

Summary

This job involves helping military personnel and their families understand and access health benefits through the Tricare program, including troubleshooting issues with claims, enrollments, and referrals.

You'll educate beneficiaries on available services, attend meetings to stay updated on policy changes, and analyze data to improve processes.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes interacting with patients, conducting investigations to identify opportunities for process improvement or staff training needs, and presenting oral or written materials to inform and educate patients.

This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-07).

Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-07).

Major Duties:

  • Attend Tricare monthly meetings on policies as benefits change frequently to support outreach and education for beneficiaries.
  • Provide input to Command group and Tricare Regional office for contract surveys.
  • Maintain formal documentation process for tracking problem resolution.
  • Manage multiple databases unique to Tricare and the referral program.
  • Analyze statistics from various. Internal sources on availability and effectiveness of the referral program management programs.
  • Troubleshoot problems beneficiaries have in processing claims, enrolling in programs, receiving authorization for services, or other system problems.
  • Provide education to a wide variety of beneficiaries on established Tricare procedures and benefits.
  • Advise service members on types of benefits and their advantages and disadvantages.
